About

In short, we’re a music blog based in Austin,TX.

We specialize in music reviews for the unheard, the artists who need some serious auditory love. However, no band is too large or too small to escape our radar. In other words, nothing’s off limits here. We write because we have something to say, something to point out, something to bring to the table. We’re always eager for the next big discovery. We hope you enjoy our snark, our passion, and our knowledge. Thanks for checking out our loving rants.

We chose this as our title for many reasons.

Firstly, because it represents a break in the action, an interruption from your regular musical choices; a chance for us to throw something new and entertaining at you and perhaps change your perspective on what kinds of music you typically seek out.

We like the term because it stands for something much deeper also. An interlude is the space in between two points that serves as a connecting pathway, but still exists as an distinct entity from the other points. Think about interludes as bridges. The interlude is the walkway connecting the two ends of the bridge. It’s obvious purpose is to connect the two opposing points, but the path is still essential to the journey. Neither of the two points could exist without the interlude. It’s a magical space that we experience on a daily basis, whether it is a break from the hectic chaos of your everyday life, or it’s a period of time in between identities or careers. It’s the transition. It’s where identities are formed and character is challenged.

Now, that might seem kind of irrelevant to a music blog, right? Wrong! As people, we are constantly in a state of transition, making our way from one interlude to another. And the same thing goes for industries and businesses. No matter what personal perspective you have on the current state of the music industry, you would be blind to not notice that it is currently in a state of serious flux. The demise of the traditional record industry and the rise of free-flowing digital music and DIY production and distribution is upon us. The industry is undergoing a serious interlude — a critical moment between two quickly moving ideological storms– the big companies are scrambling to keep up with the digital transition without losing their shirts completely, and listeners want new ways of acquiring and enjoying music without having to spend the ridiculous shelf price of hard-copy CDs. We could wear you out with all the reasons for this shift (and probably will later), but for the purposes of the introduction to our blog, we’ll spare you the trouble. Suffice it to say that the bottom line is that we’re on the brink of a serious evolution in the ways that music is created, distributed, discovered, and acquired, and that’s wickedly exciting. We’re in the middle of an interlude that will change the way music exists forever. And we want to be a part of that. We’re here to push things forward. Representation for bands without monetary motivations, without the corruption of the industry. We’re here because we love music and want to support a free-flowing, no-restrictions supply of music that will benefit all parties on one level or another. We’re here to be part of the current interlude, and part of future interludes.
